Under the Linden Tree

Jorge Kfoury Offers a Living Experience at Linden Springs

Written by Sherry Moeller

Century-old boxwoods line the porte-cochere of the Manor House at Linden Springs. Originally named Wiehle after its founder, Max Wiehle, the Manor House and the future residences at Linden Springs are situated on five acres in Reston, VA, where history was made and many firsts were implemented. Wiehle had a dream of building a planned community – envisioning retail, residential, and green space bundled together. He began by constructing the Manor House in 1896, but didn’t live to see it completed in 1900.

Subsequent owners, including the Abram Smith Bowman family who founded Fairfax Hunt Club and Robert E. Simon who founded Reston, also pursued their passions and in a sense carried on the traditions started by Wiehle. His vision of a planned community exists next door to his original home in the diverse city of Reston.

As Individual as its Owners

Linden Springs is now a work in progress in a new era reserved for savoring Wiehle’s history while making its own. Its present owner, Jorge Kfoury, founder of Linden Development, will be sure that the rich past and traditions at Wiehle will be remembered and that the land will be respected.

“I fell in love with the property,” Kfoury says. His passion for preserving as many of the azaleas, boxwoods, hollies, cypress, fruit trees, and one of the oldest Chinese fringe trees in Virginia has resulted in an increase in forest retention areas. The aromas in the spring tell him it’s all been worth it.

The Manor House will continue to be the centerpiece of the property, providing a place for residents to host dinner parties prepared by guest chefs, or hold corporate events or cooking classes, and even participate in educational dinners with experts on various topics. Kfoury may be the first to host an educational dinner to learn more about the art of the Dark Ages, a recent interest. “You’re never too old to learn new things,” Kfoury says, or want the finest there is to offer.

“Linden Springs will have one of the best wine lists in town,” Kfoury says, as well as offer personal yoga sessions, a spa-quality gym, and a motion-forced endless pool. While the land will present its residents paths to walk and boxwood and herb gardens to meander through, the neighboring W&OD and Reston trails encourage outdoor activities as well. Linden Springs will be an interactive community, where residents can join in the social activities as much or as little as they’d like, while enjoying homes featuring the best of everything.

Linden Springs will be as individual as its owners. Kfoury will work with buyers, offering complimentary consultations with interior, kitchen, drapery, and custom wardrobe closet designers as well an architect, to create a home that fits their needs and desires. With more than 20 floor plans ranging from 1,757 to 4,729 square feet, Linden Springs will offer 43 homes in three buildings – Bowman Court, Wiehle Court, and Simon Court. Prices range from $995,000 to $3.5 million.

Only the Best

The four-car garage on the Linden Springs property was converted into the design center where prospective buyers can peruse the wide selection of finishes. The developer focused on the elements you touch in a home when making selections to offer residents, such as kitchen, bathroom, and door hardware, as well as custom cabinetry, millwork, and moldings. Miele, Sub-Zero, and Wolf appliances and Wood-Mode cabinets will establish gourmet kitchens, while Waterworks and Kohler fixtures and fittings and Italian tiles will create gleaming finishes throughout the homes.

Granite countertops and stone, tile, and wood flooring including cherry and wormy chestnut oak will flourish inside. Outside, brick, granite, slate, limestone, and fieldstone will accent the facades. Green building techniques will be utilized throughout the building process, Kfoury says. Water filtration systems, HEPA home air filtration systems, humidification units, and private and semi-private elevator access are additional standard offerings. As many as three glass views per home and spacious terraces and balconies will bring the outside in.

Kfoury is traveling to Brazil to select the stone for both the exteriors and interiors of the condominiums. Then his travels will bring him back to one of the finest new residences in the area – Linden Springs. He’s reserved his own home in this community, a place where the past is appreciated, the present is exciting, and the future is first rate. ws
