On a warm fall night, the Washington Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers held its annual awards ceremony, quite appropriately, at the residence of one of the earliest and most time-honored interior designers – George Washington. Before the ceremony, guests enjoyed leisurely candlelit walking tours of the historic Mount Vernon Estate and Gardens, champagne, and hors d’oeuvres.
The event celebrated regional achievements in residential and commercial design throughout the year, and even spotlighted one of our own – the ASID Washington Chapter Award for Media Excellence given to Sherry Moeller, editorial director of Washington Spaces for her coverage of So Others Might Eat Place For Kids, a charitable program that helps support long-term housing solutions for former homeless families sponsored by ASID. Spirits were high, laughs were many, and the night-capping toast to the year’s successes was a delight.
The 2007 ASID Metro DC Chapter award recipients include: Barbara Slater Magistro, Phyllis Hartman (two awards), Therese Baron Gurney, Austin Kuester, Sharon Kuester, Claire Tamburro, Alahana Grundy, Douglas Hartsell, Deborah L. Houseworth, Clifford R. Tuttle, JoAnn Zwally, Linda Sorrento, Mount Vernon Ladies’ Association, Sarah Boyer Jenkins, and Washington Spaces magazine.
