If you want to get around Bethesda, MD, and take in the sights, shops, and restaurants, the Circulator is the way to go. “It currently runs in a figure eight around two main parts of Bethesda – the Woodmont Triangle and Bethesda Row,” says Stephanie Coppula, director of marketing for Bethesda Urban Partnership Inc. (BUP). This free trolley runs every 10 minutes and adds to the bounty of amenities for the new residents living in the luxury condominiums, such as Lionsgate and Trillium Bethesda, rising up in the area.

BUP markets and maintains downtown Bethesda, Coppula says, and makes living in Bethesda an all-inclusive experience. The partnership is a non-profit organization created by Montgomery County in 1994 that promotes special events around town, including Dance Bethesda on March 7 and 8. During the two days, studios host Friday night dance parties and lessons. Dance companies will also perform at the Round House Theatre. Another spring happening, the Bethesda Literary Festival, runs from April 18-20 with guest speakers including Helen Thomas and Alice Hoffman. “We have essay contests, poetry readings, anything that has to do with the written word,” Coppula adds.

Of course, there is no shortage of fine restaurants and increasing shopping opportunities in downtown Bethesda. See the Web site for a complete list of upcoming events and dining, shopping, and entertainment venues.
