Last night, Zenith Community Arts Foundation (ZCAF) hosted its annual benefit at Zenith Gallery in Penn Quarter for the Capital Area Food Bank, “Food Glorious Food IV: Changing Courses.” Each year, the gallery brings together artists with tasty subject matter (John Pack, Cassandra Gillens, Anne Marchand), celebrated local restaurants and chefs (Jose Andrès, Restaurant Eve, Black Salt, Rasika, Citronelle), and happy guests for a party to launch the new food-art-themed 2009 calendar. Some highlights? John Pack’s edible-looking shell sculptures and Ron Schwerin’s Dali-esque still-lifes. The food was yummy, the art was too, and the calendars are still for sale through ZCAF. The corresponding exhibit at Zenith Gallery is up through Nov. 9.

Sharon Leiser, chairperson for ZCAF and Chef Caesare Assad of Vegetate check out the new calendar.
