Issues: Fall 2007
Welcome to Spaces
Brilliant yellows, burnt oranges, and fiery reds spark traditional thoughts of autumn, but as we look forward, we’re thinking green. The choices we make as we strive to integrate earth-minded elements into our homes – from old barn wood flooring to high efficiency skylights - aren’t always easy, yet they’re worth the effort.
We applaud all of those architects, custom builders, individuals, and entire communities whose work is reflected on our pages who are consciously incorporating environmentally sound details into their designs. Going green is not a trend, it’s a mindset that will ultimately make a difference in the quality of all of our lives. Read Emily Lyons’ story, “What Green Means” on page 35 for more. See Sherry Moeller’s article on the remarkable rotunda Brenneman & Pagenstecher added during a remodel, page 66. And don’t miss the look at the neighborhood effort that went into creating The Rosedale Conservancy, a historic green space in Cleveland Park, page 40.
Peruse this issue at your leisure, then mark your calendars for the fall home tours throughout the metropolitan region, pages 147, 207, and 208.
